root pass from console

    can i change root password from console via ssh ?

    Yes you can.

    Login as root,

    type
    passwd

    You will then be prompted to enter in a new password and confirm it, like shown below

    Changing password for user root.
    New password:
    Retype new password:
    passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.


    Remember to ensure to use a password of mixed caSeS, numbers, charactors, best to be 8 charactors minimum in length and that does not form a real word.
