Hello :)

You will need to consult with your data center or hosting provider to see if they can reset the root password for you. Are you sure it was changed, or do you simply notice that "root" access is no longer working? Is it possible you have been locked out by cPhulk brute force protection?

Thank you.

My server provider wont help me because it is unmanaged. I am sure it was changed, but i might be locked out not sure. I shut the vps down though the vps control panel just incase it was a hacker.

You should have access to a VPS administrative panel if this is a virtual server. There is typically an option to change the root password in this panel. Check with your provider to see which method they recommend for resetting a root password.

Thank you.

Yes, the root password that is used for SSH is also the same password for the "root" user that you access Web Host Manager with.

Thank you.
