I need to change my root password, but when I try to I get the following error:

Changing password for root
Password for root has been changed
Updating mysql database access...
Invalid Username.
Done

How can I fix this?

Have tried also using:

Mysql & Reset Mysql Root Password

in WHM? Setting that also to the new PW should fix the problem.

As you have lost your root password I suppose that you don't have SSH access. Someone at the data center needs to boot your machine into single user mode. Ask them to type linux -s at the lilo prompt. This will boot your machine into single user mode, tell them to make sure that the root partition is mounted and then have them run: passwd root.

This should prompt them to enter a new root password. They just need to reboot your machine and it should work fine again.
