This is probably a noob question, and I thought it was easy, probably is, but I couldn't find the answer.

We registered a new domain and all I want to do is have it directed to a website we already have setup. So basically the two domains will take people to the same site.

Using the nameservers of the registrar (planet/softlayer) I was hoping to redirect, but then ran into the issue that our server is shared and so if I send them to the IP, it will go to our default site, and not the one I want it to.

I'm guessing that somewhere in WHM I have to tell it that this domain is coming in, but I also want it to "come in" and just point to the existing account. I don't want to create a whole account for this domain, only to have to put in an htaccess redirect or something. I was hoping to accomplish this in DNS or some feature of WHM.

So how can route this new domain an existing site on the shared IP server?

    Hello :)

You can add the new domain name as "Parked" domain name within the cPanel of the account:

    Parked Domains

    Thank you.
