Hi. I am trying to use rsync to copy (push) backup files to another server. But, when I run the rsync command, nothing happens. No error message or anything. I have to interupt the process by pressing Ctrl+C.

The command I am trying to run: rsync -av -e "ssh -p 22222" /sourcedir mybackupuser@mybackupserver.com:/home/mybackupuser

    Thanks in advance.

Does the remote server mybackupuser@mybackupserver.com actually run on port 22222? I was able to get the command you used working fine on my machine when testing, so the only reason I could see it failing is either a) the port used isn't right, b) the sending or receiving server blocking the request.

You may wish to take down the firewall on both machines to test again if the port is indeed correctly listed.
