rsync to 2nd HDD as a backup

Hi all,

Just after some advise. In my server I have 2 HDD's I've created the same partition structure on HDD2 as HDD1.
HDD1 mounted as sda
HDD2 mounted as sdb

The partitions are rsync'ed nightly. If HDD1 ever has any issues, would I be able to simply mount HDD2 as sda and bring up the server without any issues? Can anyone see any reasons why this may not work?

Hello

Yes, assuming it's an exact replication of the data (including permissions and ownership values), I don't see any reason why it would fail to boot as intended.
