    I'm trying to get RT (Request Tracker http://www.bestpractical.com) working on a cPanel server. I'm mostly clueless, but I amazingly got to the point where I need to configure Apache.

    I already have a VirtualHost setting for my website compliments of cPanel. Yet RT wants the below in the httpd.conf file.

    <VirtualHost your.ip.address>
    ServerName your.rt.server.hostname
    DocumentRoot /opt/rt3/share/html
    AddDefaultCharset UTF-8
    PerlModule Apache:: DBI
    PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux.pl
    <Location />
    SetHandler perl-script
    PerlHandler RT::Mason
    </Location>
    </VirtualHost>

    If I add it as a separate entry, http won't start.

    This is the existing VirtualHost entry:
    <VirtualHost 1.2.3.4>
    ServerAlias my.fcdn.edu
    ServerAdmin webmaster@my.edu
    DocumentRoot /home/rivers/public_html
    BytesLog domlogs/rivers.my.edu-bytes_log
    ServerName rivers.my.edu
    User xxx
    Group xxx
    CustomLog domlogs/rivers.my.edu combined
    ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/rivers/public_html/cgi-bin/
    </VirtualHost>

    Can they be merged? Not that I really understand, but they look mutually exclusive to me. Any ideas how to get this to work?

    Thanks,

    John

    We have used RT in the past but just recently switched to PerlDesk (www.perldesk.com) and it works MUCH better for trouble tickets/request tracking

    You may want to check it out if you cannot manage to get RT setup, as Pdesk took about 20mins for me to setup, and it is very very reasonably priced (like $50USD or something)
