There's a similar thread in the forums, but the message I'm receiving is different so I've opened a new thread for this.

We are able to add RoR applications without a problem. Additionally, we are able to manually start the applications via SSH.

However, if we click on "Run" under Actions, we receive:

testror is the name of our app.

Upon going back to the Ruby Applications, cPanel states that the Application is not running. This is true, the app is not running when we check via SSH.

I'm wondering why we're told it's successfully started when it's not.

I've checked the logs for the app itself but nothing is logged. Is there an error log for ruby/mongrel somewhere?

    Anyone else encounter this situation?

I have the exact same problem - I'd be very interested to find a solution.

Here is s ticket I posted to the server support guys, they pointed me to this forum...

"I have created an app using the config tool in my cPanel.

However, when I run the app (/public_html/gggallery) it says it is starting but when I check the status is still "not running".

I have managed to get RoR to update tables in mySQL db via SSH (so I know it is there and running). When I try and start the app from it's dir using SSH with "mongrel_rails start" I get a message saying "-jailshell: mongrel_rails: command not found".

I wonder if we need Mongrel install to get this to run?"

From what I am reading Apache needs some configuring to work with RoR and possible Mongrel needs adding to the mix too. I'm a bit out of my depth here any pointers would be appreciated.

We got this working yesterday. We are unsure as to why this is happening, but it appears that our APF was interfering with the installation of ruby. We ran the following and then applications report as running after we start them:

    Code:
    gem uninstall rails
    gem uninstall mongrel
    gem uninstalled fastthread
    service apf stop
    /scripts/installruby
    service apf start

Ruby Applications are not running [SOLVED]

    Hello,

I just hit this problem myself. The problem is that RubyGems does not automatically update to 1.3.1. The rubygems-update-1.3.1 is installed, but not applied. As su, simply run "update_rubygems" to apply the update. This is a bug in the gems update system it seems.
