I am currently with a web host running cPanel 11.

I have tried to understand how to use the Ruby Gems however I just encounter problems when trying to use them.

I have installed them through cPanel and SSH but still no luck.

The gems state that they have installed correctly, but when I come to 'require' them in projects it generates errors.

Could you please guide me how to require them in projects, for example do I just state require gem_name?

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks, Rob

    Login to cPanel.
Click on the icon for "Ruby on Rails" (not Ruby Gems)
Check the box for "Load on boot?'
Fill in the "App Name" box and name it "test"
Application Path will be automagically filled in for you as public_html/test
Select "production" for the Environment, which should already be selected as the default.
    Click "Create"
    Now you can go to
You should now see a "Welcome aboard" message which is the default Ruby index page.
If you get a 400 Error, make sure to include the trailing slash "/" after "public" or you may not see the default Rails welcome page.
