    Hi there,

I just got a new server with 4G RAM and install CPanel WHM on it.

    2 issues:

    1. The server is running at 3.8G is there a way to cap Cpanel memory usage at say 2G? (i was running the same software on a 2G machine and it ran just fine)

    2. I want to run a Java process as root, the process will run for a few hours at a time and requires 1G of RAM to run.

    is this achievable?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I noticed your post, and the memory limit you are referring to would be set with the following instructions.

First you will make your edits to httpd.conf

Second you would save your edits and distill the file using the following: /usr/local/cpanel/bin/apache_conf_distiller --update

(this will make the changes be applied to future Apache configuration modifications)

Then you will need to restart the service via:
    service restart httpd
    or
    /etc/init.d/httpd restart

As far as the issue with running the java process as root, unfortunately that would be something we could not support directly, as it would be customization of the scripts. However that is not to say it can't be done.

I hope this helps with your issue.

    Thank you,
    Matthew Curry
