I have a Compaq Proliant server running CPanel on a RAID5 array. I need to add another drive and expand the array. Then, expand the Redhat partition that holds CPanel.

Has anyone ever done this ? I would apprecite any feedback that I can get. I cant afford to shut down 200 websites.

    wsenter,

I would check your temp log files for all apache, awstats, ftp and see about deleteing those off first for space because they can be pretty big. If you have to add a HD to your exsisting array, I hope it goes well let use know how that works out for you. I would think from my experience with raid that it should go very smooth, and the raid controller would start shifting data over asap when you finish configureing it. Linux/cpanel should have no problem with this conversion as well but you might have cpanel revalidate itself

    /scripts/upcp

    just to make sure.

Hope any of my knowledge helped.. lol

    Raid 5 update

    Thanks for the reply Solan.

I added the drive, ran smart start and it chugged along for about 8 hours. Finally finished and voila. All done , no problems. Very smooth.

    Thanks
