Can someone share the pros and cons of having SafeMode On?

I do have phpsuexec support enabled on some servers, disabled on others.

I'm also using php / mysql 4 on some, 5 on others.

Thanks in advance.

Give some examples if you can, of cons of turning this on server wide and it is possible to turn it off or on via htaccess (I searched, one thread noted it 'doesn't matter with phpsuexec'.
