Sandbox or test environment - how to provide it?

I see a few hosting competitors offering this kind of "sandbox" hosting product.

The idea is that you can either test your website on a password-protected environment (sometimes before paying for the hosting plan) and when you are ready, you can publish (and pay).

Another implementation is you have your existing website, activate the sandbox for it and then you have a test environment to do all the changes you need, test the changed website to see if it works, and then publish the changes.

Are you aware of any kind of plugin or addon that could accomplish this?

I am not aware of any specific plugin that offers that functionality. You may want to consult with some of those web hosting companies directly to see if they can let you know if it's a custom application or a commercial product.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm sure they are using proprietary solutions then, or something provided by some other panel. I suppose it's too complicated to be a feature request.
