Submit a bug/feature request. I'll talk to Nick about this also. I'd like to see more added. I'll give him a list of new ones and possibly help him. Submit the request and post the id number here so I have something to referr to.

search engine

Hi,

I submitted a bug over a month ago

http://web.cpanel.net/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=656

Summary: Search engine submission in Cpanel doesn't work!
Product: Cpanel
Version: 4.0
Platform: All
URL: http://www.ANhosting.com
OS/Version: Red Hat Linux 7.1
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: cpanel
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]

I'm not even sure if anyone even read my bug report, I havent heard anything and over 90% of the search engines dont work. I just assume they take it out if its not working. I would be happy to help with the fixing of this but dont know where to start or how it works. Does anyone have that info?

search engine

Hi,

I know a lot of people sign up for the free search engine submissions, we would all get a lot more sales if this worked, and i know there are companies that use software and charge $300 or more to submit you to search engines at the click of a button, does any one know if there is a free one available on the web?

Give me a couple of weeks

Hey gang,

I'm getting ready to release a new site that will be a Professional Website Submission Service. My database now stands at around 780,000 sites including the major SE's, Classifieds, FFA link farms, etc.

I leave on vacation for a week tomorrow but I'll post more info when I get back and have the site up and running. I'd be willing to work something out with the Cpanel community to offer a level of service for free.

Regards,
Jon

The best site for the truth about search engines

No connection to these folks, but here's a LOT of free information that debunks many of the myths surrounding search engines: http://www.selfpromotion.com If you're thinking about paying someone for submissions, read this first because you're probably getting ripped off.

BTW - I don't believe that Google accepts money, which is part of what sets them apart from the crowd!

And the reason that search engine submission scripts are often broken is because the search engine companies keep changing the process! It's a moving target, and some of them are darm hard or impossible to hit. Look at Altavista's submission form for example: http://addurl.altavista.com/sites/addurl/newurl Notice that it tries to ensure that there's a *person* making the submission by using graphics that a program can't (easily) read.

Hey Jason,

I agree that they keep trying to change things up on us. That's what's great about having full time programmers to keep our database current! ;)

Our scripts immediately notify us of a problem submitting to any of our engines. It takes about 5 minutes to update the database with the new information and get things rolling again.

Selfpromotion.com is a wonderful resource! I've used that site almost religiously in the past. Now that I'm moving to the forefront of Automated submissions, I'm sure that I'll still be stopping in on a regular basis to see what he's found :)

Regards,
Jon D. Atwood
