    I have added an ip to my cpanel vps server. IT all went well, only now i am noticing that after a period of time the ip stops responding and is also not showing up in cpanel. After i restarted with service ipaliases restart they show backup on.

    when i run the ifconfig you can see that the ip is there "108.61.199.188"

    Code:
    root@server [~]# ifconfig -a
    eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 56:00:00:02:F2:35
              inet addr:108.61.165.8  Bcast:108.61.167.255  Mask:255.255.252.0
              inet6 addr: fe80::5400:ff:fe02:f235/64 Scope:Link

              inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host

              RX bytes:384834 (375.8 KiB)  TX bytes:384834 (375.8 KiB)
    What can i do to solve this. I never have something like this before.

    Thanks.

    Ip going offline every so many hours

    There is an issue with ip that i have not ever seen before and also our admins have never encountered.

    I hope someone has an idea how to solve it.

    It seems that the ip alias is being deleted some how. This is only on the ip that has been added to the server through cpanel.

    ifconfig show this

    Code:
    eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 56:00:00:02:F2:35
              inet addr:108.61.165.8  Bcast:108.61.167.255  Mask:255.255.252.0
              inet6 addr: fe80::5400:ff:fe02:f235/64 Scope:Link
              UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

              TX packets:48314 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
              collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
              RX bytes:74192471 (70.7 MiB)  TX bytes:20545748 (19.5 MiB)

    eth1      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 52:54:00:B5:AD:21
              BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
              RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
              TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
              collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
              RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

    lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
              inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
              inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
              UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:65536  Metric:1
              RX packets:16306 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
              TX packets:16306 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
              collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
              RX bytes:3235267 (3.0 MiB)  TX bytes:3235267 (3.0 MiB)

    The ip 108.61.199.188 is missing. I have added that ip through cpanel and at the time it was working, but after a few hours it went offline. When i use the command ipaliases restart it starts workign again right away and the ip is being added again

    Code:
    root@server [~]# service ipaliases restart
    Bringing up eth0:cp1                                       [  OK  ]
    Routing 108.61.199.188                                     [  OK  ]
    Now ifconfig gives the correct output.

    Code:
    eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 56:00:00:02:F2:35
              inet addr:108.61.165.8  Bcast:108.61.167.255  Mask:255.255.252.0
