    On a new customer server, the secure whm /cpanel port is not working. When i try to restart cpanel, i see the following in the /var/log/messages

    May 18 05:27:53 xx stunnel: LOG5[5208:3086825696]: stunnel 4.15 on i686-pc-linux-gnu with OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003

    May 18 05:27:53 xx cpanel: startstunnel startup failed

    I tried to search the forums and apply the suggestions of compiling Net_SSLeay.pm-1.25, etc, however nothing seems to be working.

    I tried to stop cpanel and look at netstat -an and it shows something is already binded to secure ports

    Any ideas on where to look for this and resolve it ?

    I have resolved this issue.

    The problem was stunnel was not stopping when cpannel was shutdown. I added the following line to /usr/local/cpanel/etc/init/stopstunnel:

    system("/scripts/ckillall -9 stunnel-4.15local");

    (as stunnel-4.15local was then name of the process that was not shutting down).

    I killed the running stunnel. Started Cpanel, then restarted CPanel.

    If we edit the file manually it will get overwritten in the next cpanel update.

    Ok i updated the file, stopped cpanel, started it and secure ports started to work.

    Now i updated cpanel and the file was overwritten, back to square one. I guess now wait for cpanel to fix this bug in the next release.
