forgive my rookieness

I need to alter the /etc/named.conf file
however I cant find it, what is the best way to find a file like this when using cpanel

shell? FTP Manager, either one I dont see the file and I know it is there

ah I see you cant access the root via cpanel or WHM

Third party tool perhaps like SecureCRT or puddy, would that do the trick?

Are you sure you want to edit named.conf? What are you trying to do? There might be a different or more suitable way to do it.

Yes, SecureCRT or Putty would be the software to use to edit server files, but make sure you know what you are doing before playing with those programs. They can be very dangerous. ;)

thanks I was actually trying to secure the dns server, it was open, I got help with my host to fix the file and its working just fine.
