Hi there, we're running into some strangeness regarding the "Send login link to alternate email address" option when creating a new email account.

When we use this option the email will send to the provided email address twice. As well, if you leave the "Send a welcome email with instructions to set up a mail client." option checked, that email will not actually send / be created in the new mailbox. This occurs across any account/domain. I'm not really sure where to begin troubleshooting this, we recently enabled this on the server so I don't know whether it's always been like this or not. As a workaround I've been using the Email Instructions option found under Connect Devices for the specific email account, in order to provide the setup instructions email though I don't have anything to stop the duplicate email sending for the password link.

Thanks

Hey there! I'd recommend starting with the /var/log/exim_mainlog file. This would show you both things - if the first email is really being sent twice by the server side, and if the second message is being sent at all. Let me know if you can find any details in that log file.

Hi, I found the log entry and there are two separate messages being queued/sent - they have different message ID's. These are the only items I can find in that log, and it doesn't explain why the welcome message isn't being sent either unfortunately. All that log seems to have is confirmation the messages are queued up and being sent by the system.

That's definitely odd, and not something I've seen other reports of. Could you submit a ticket to our team so we can look into that? Once that is done, just post the ticket number here so I can follow along and make sure this thread gets updated.

Interestingly enough I was able to find this article while submitting the ticket. That article says development isn't working on a fix for this for now but I still submitted it as the welcome email I'm still curious if it can be fixed or not. Ticket #94313474
