Separate mail and web servers

Hi All,

We want to use a separate server to handle the user emails and use another server for website and database hosting. Can Cpanel integrate to an external mail server for webmail, IMAP, POP3, etc.? If that's possible, do we have to have Cpanel installed on both servers? And how would user quotas work?

Hello

You can utilize a remote server for email purposes through the use of MX records. This is documented at:

MX Entries

Keep in mind, all email activity and webmail would need to be accessed on the remote server that handles the email. Email accounts must be created on that remote server. There is no functionality available to have all email creation/use on a local server synchronized to a remote mail server.
