Hi there,

I have a cPanel server with two hard drives, one partition of the first hd mounted at /home and the other 2TB hard disk mounted at /home/user/public_html/mediafiles. The second 2TB hard drive is almost full and I need more storage space on that folder for that user.

I need 12-18TB storage hard drive. It's not possible to add a bigger hd to this server. So, my question is:

Is it possible to order a separate server just for media files storage and link its hd to /home/user/public_html/mediafiles in some way under the same domain?

What is the best way to approach this issue?

Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for my low english level and server admin skills.

Yes, you would need to have a plain linux server as the second server and set it up to be an NFS server. Then you would share a storage folder over NFS and mount it on your current server in that location and of course you would have to copy the existing content over to it.

Giving you steps on how to go about that probably exceeds the scope of the forum, but there are a lot of guides out there such as

NFS Server and Client Installation on CentOS 7

While the advice provided by @GOT is correct I do need to point out that while this is a configuration many people employ cPanel does not support NFS and any configuration, issues and troubleshooting will need to be done by you or your system administrator. If you don't have one you might look here: System Administration Services | cPanel Forums

Thanks!
