My cpanel server has run well for some time, however recently, and everytime I seem to create a new account, the server goes down and requires a reboot.

    Has anyone ever experienced this?

    Thanks

If you have an access to your server then login to your SSH and monitor the server using top -c. You will get the process id which consumes more CPU usage.

It will help to know some additional information about the issue.

1.) Was there a change in third-party software being installed or updated before or around the time the issue started happening (such as new or recently updated third-party plug-ins for WHM)?

2.) When the issue occurs, what is the response to ping tests?

3.) When the issue occurs, is there any output on-screen via console or KVM access? On-site data center staff could help with this.

4.) Via root SSH access, what is the output from the following commands?
    Code:
    # grep -H '' /etc/*release
    # grep '' /usr/local/cpanel/version
    # stat /scripts/prewwwacct /scripts/postwwwacct

when you say crashes, do you mean the entire machine? or just httpd goes down so you are rebooting it? what are the loads top -c ? what's causing the load? do these new accounst get created? how many sites / add-on / parked domains are we talking on the server? have you had a reseller bring in a few hundred sites recently? I guess what I am getting at, do you monitor the loads and resources on this machine to see if it is on the verge of runaway in the first place? I am thinking a heavily loaded box may take a beating when rebuildhttpdconf runs if there is a ton of sites on the server, then apache restarts. Tell us more about what's on the server, how much load.
