We will shortly be making one of our servers redundant and moving all sites to a new server. We would of course move the current cpanel license to the new server / IP, but is there a way to keep both versions of cpanel / whm active for a time whilst everything is moved over?

Just a suggestion, we did something similar and just got a 14 day trial license to move everything, once we were done we purchased the license for the new Ip and let the other license die.

Thanks, I actually had the same thought originally, though in my case I'd want to switch the old license to the new IP as it has 7 months still to run. Can a test license be replaced with by existing license or only by a new one?

Some companies actually offer the possibility that one license can, for a limited period, be used for two installations exactly for this purpose.

Just done so. Thought someone might have had the same situation before, hence the question here.

Ahhhh, we lease month-to-month so it was the easiest for us, I did not realize you had time left on your license.
