server load is 4.20 too much

    I have a server that stays on 7.00 .... and it purrs like a kitten. Of course we only use it for email though.

    Are you talking about server load that cpanel shows?

    I had server load 5.23, i just wonder, if 1 is 100%?

    no, 1 does not = 100%

    one of the biggest things to look for when you use the "top" command especially is idle CPU %

    The lower the % is better off or vice versa?:confused:

    no, you want a higher idle CPU % number.

    Meaning, if your server was showing 80% idle CPU, that is pretty good because only 20% of the CPU power is being used. Now if this starts dropping to show little or no idle CPU.. then your machine is being overworked.

    But don't get the loads confused, because the load isn't strictly based on CPU usage. You can have a load of 5 and still have plenty of idle CPU... there are a lot of factors involved such as ram, swap usage, etc.

    oh..I will not be that worry then. Becos, it always show >80% and at most 60+%
