My server is PIII 1.0Ghz, 1GB Memory with RedHat 7.3, WHM 5.3.0, CPanel 5.3.0-S69

The load average never goes below 1.00, but my other non-WHM/CPanel servers show up 0.00 rather than 1.00 ...

    10:05pm up 60 days, 22:52, 1 user, load average: 1.48, 1.28, 1.21
    104 processes: 101 sleeping, 2 running, 0 zombie, 1 stopped
CPU states: 1.7% user, 9.1% system, 0.0% nice, 89.0% idle
    Mem: 1027468K av, 1009900K used, 17568K free, 0K shrd, 110088K buff
    Swap: 2096472K av, 14292K used, 2082180K free 725336K cached

and also, seem kjournald keep loading...

    17 root 15 0 0 0 0 SW 3.9 0.0 142:58 kjournald

Do you know how to change the lowest load average to 0.00 rather than 1.00? and Why kjournald keep loading?

kjournald is normal, don't worry about that. Load is @ 1 but your cpu usage seems fine, I wouldn't worry if it stays about the same. What else is going on? Post the rest of your top output for us to see.

I'm seeing the same problem on a server I'm trying to figure out for someone - When they create an account all of a sudden the load shoots up and doesnt come back down for awhile. Other times it supposedly just shoots up to 3 on its own and stays there for awhile with no visible high processes.

Here's a copy of top before and right after an account is created. It kept going up by the way - to 1..then after about 5 minutes went back down.

    ========================

I know it makes sense for the server load to go up a bit during account creation..but surely not over one and up to 3 - and for it to stay for so long before coming down? Espcially since there arent that many processes running :/

Or maybe I'm an idiot and missing something =] Thanks usually the case.

I would suggest you turn off entropychat & melange which will still leave PHP Chat. I had a similar problem and turned them off, load went back down. You should also (if using it) use the 4.8 version of Interchang. There is a link somewhere on this Forum to a msg. the Interchange creator/maintainer sent to DarkOrb -- about problems with Cpanel and Interchange.

DarkOrb seems to be ignoring the warning msg. and on the Interchange Web site, they do state that if one is going to use Interchange, v4.8 is the one to use.

Since Oscommerce is now an option i turned off Interchange completely. If you just turn it off by unchecking it in the services section and then say disable in the tweek setting the stupid thing will continue to send e-mail about interchange being down. The secrect it this.

    To completely remove interchange:

Check none in the tweek settings
In the Services Manager uncheck interchange

    Now reboot the server.

When it comes back up the interchange service will no longer show when you click on Server status and you will no longer receive those horrid e-mails saying its down. If you dont reboot then be prepared to deal with the problems. Also, if any user has installed Interchange in their virtual domain then you should delete interchange, manually from their sites.

My memory is at 6% 90% of the time after removing Interchange and my loads are 00.00 - 00.10 with 150 sites running.

ozzi - you shouldn't need to reboot, after doing all the disables restart chkservd, that should do it without having to reboot.

    Guys,

in general in the last 6 months I have noticed my loads go way up. At first I thought it was users. It's a dual P3 1.13 and 1GB ram 2 60GB IBM drives 7.3RH

Right now it does about 70GB month traffic with 250 accounts and every bit of that is http, almost no scripts or mySQL. my loads float at .50 at their **lowest** and during the day at 1.10 and then when the logs run they hit 2.5- 3.0 for hours during the day. At night when backup runs ..it hits 20.00 and 30.00 and won't respond for hours to http. Takes about 10 hours to complete backups. Now backups almost never complete with the load watcher doung it's thing.

I have no hair left . I just can't understand it. same accounts and traffic **with** databases on a raw RH box loads almost never goes above .05 .10

my backups didn't run last night at all either :(
