    Hello,

For the past few months I have used HTOP to monitor my server instead of top. HTOP always showed my memory usage to be around 210MB used out of 512MB and swap 250MB out of 1027MB. Today I looked at top and it showed 27572k free - at least I think that is what it is saying. Web Host Manager shows aound 40% memory usage and .75% swap usage.
    Here's my top readout:
    Code:
    Mem: 495808k av, 468236k used, 27572k free, 0k shrd, 47140k buff
                        346060k actv, 70952k in_d, 5820k in_c
    Swap: 1052248k av, 270252k used, 781996k free 205568k cached
So according to TOP I am pretty much out of memory. What should I trust? Is there a command to see memory usage (I think there is but I can't remember it) and amount left? I've been thinking of adding more memory but I don't want to waste my money on useless things.

    Thanks for the help!

That was just what I was looking for! Thanks for the help.

The results suck! A whopping 19 Megs free! F*^$ing HTOP!

    Time for a memory upgrade...

That's an intersting article on linux memory. I did what it said and ran vmstat but since I don't have a baseline to compare it to, I don't know what is high. Here is the output. This was taken when the load was about 1.
    Code:
procs memory swap io system cpu
r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa
     0 0 299084 23144 39496 194828 34 53 7 183 105 24 27 9 45 19

Here is what the article said.
So is this good or bad?

I also noticed when the load climbs, free memory increases until a point all the memory is used. Why would that be? Has anybody also noticed WHM showing low memory usage when there is almost no memory left?
