Have had this server for more than 2years but surprisingly all the sites on it started loading at snail speed this morning. At some ppint, it times out.
Restarted server severally, no improvement. No trace of any major load on the server.

Any suggestion will highly be appreciated.

There may be many reasons for this.

top -c output, running processes, ram usage, disk i/o wait, network status should be analyzed.

Edit: Will check all these and get back here. Already checked processes, everything seemed normal. I actually closed several processes to see if there would be any improvement, but the problem persisted. And i noticed once i restarted Apache, it tends to improve and then goes back to its terrible state.

    Hello,

The following thread is a good place to start:

Troubleshooting high server loads on Linux servers

It's primarily intended for high server loads, but is also helpful for overall slowness troubleshooting even when the server load isn't high.

    Thank you.
