I'm new to cpanel and managing my own server and I'm confused as what I should set up in easyapache etc

I've been told that i should have xcache installed and i'm mainly running a vbulletin forum. It my own sites that run on there so its not shared or anything.

When setting up php, Should I use fcgi or run it as a module?

What effect does suphp and suexec have and should I be using these? I do have a couple of different sites on the server and would like to keep track of which one is using the resources. I also want a setup that will allow xcache to work ok.

I've been told that using suphp or suexec can cause problems with the permissions but i've tried searching google and can't find any information I can understand.

Also what are suhosin and modsecurity and do i need these installing as well?
Obviousle I want my setup as secure as possible but I've read that modsecurity can cause problems with vbulletin.

Thanks in advance for any help.
