In cpanel, I've went to Server Time. It shows this time Thu Sep 6 21:32:55 EDT 2012
However the real time is 21:05.

I run the sync time with timezone button: which outputs the correct time rdate: [rdate.cpanel.net] Thu Sep 6 21:05:10 2012

However, when I click back on server time it still shows the incorrect 30mins plus difference...

Any ideas? I've tried to manually CP over the EST timezone in /etc/localtime which also has no effect..

    If needed:

    2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
    CentOS release 5.8 (Final)

Could you open up a ticket? I'm not certain what might cause this and we'd need to look at the server itself to investigate. Please use either WHM > Support Center > Contact cPanel or click the link in my signature. After opening up a ticket, please post the ticket number here for tracking purposes. Thanks!

You can synchronize time on the server by using following command.

    rdate -s rdate.cpanel.net

Also, make sure /etc/localtime is symlink to correct time zone.

Certain types of VPS systems inherit the time and date from the server hosting the VPS (called the host node). If the host node's time is set incorrectly, that bad time will be inherited to the VPS systems hosted on that server. Since on these vps systems you can not set the date, when cpanel fetches the correct date it displays it, however it can not set it so you continue to see the incorrect date.

To resolve this issue you will need to contact you VPS provider and have them set the correct time on the host node server.
