I guess my server performed an update last night and the server went down. All sites showed an apache test page but email was up. I was able to access my remote APC for a reboot and then the sites all came back.
But all is back except that I cannot acccess WHM and my login is rejected.
Can I reset the WHM password using ssh? If so could someone provide step by step commands to accomplish this? I would be greatful and thank you.

    WHM web browser error

I had the same problem on one of my servers. Plus, I was getting complaints that mail was down. Do not know if I did the right thing or why it worked, but the following did work.

    1. I logged in using SSH and rebooted. (This did not seem to affect the broswer interface, but mail complaints stopped.)

    2. I ran from the SSH "/scripts/upcp" and examined the results, which seemed to be OK.

    3. I went back to the broswer, and all was working once more.

None of my other servers were similarily affected. However, I did find a reboot on them stopped complaints about an unability to send mail.

    Update

I received this from Cpanel support:

The actual cause of the problem was this, just for your information.

Due to problems with our update servers being attacked, many people received partial updates for the latest -STABLE update. This condition
causes WebHost Manager to become unaccessible. You can correct this by
    forcing the update to complete.

Your server should be fixed now.
