    Hello.
What dir should I place the default, server-wide error page?
Let's say the 404.shtml which should be seen by anyone unless they change the default.

AFAIK unless each site will have it's own 404 error page. We put a generic 404.shtml in our skel folder so any new accounts will have it. We also have a script which will put the file in any accounts that are missing it, mainly to keep it out of the http error log.

I think you could just hand edit the httpd.conf and set Errordoc 404 http://www.hostname.com/404.htm or whatever. You need to look at some of the post for editing hte httpd.conf on cPanel 11
