few days ago my server started acting strangely - around 22:00 it starts restarting services httpd, ftpd, exim, cpsrvd, pop, mysql, spamd and this goes until around 7:00 am.

Error message in email is like this:

httpd failed @ Tue Sep 26 06:34:11 2006. A restart was attempted automagicly.

Why is this happening? I'm on WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.2-R119.

update your cpanel version right away. 10.8.2-R119 has a security issue.
I ran the upgrade script right after I saw the announcement, no upgrade happened. Now when I do it it upgraded my servers fine. I probably was too fast ;-)

As fot he logs, I checked only /var/log/messages and I will investigate the others as well.

thank you

Upgrade...

Login into your server on the right hand side under "cPanel" -> Upgrade to Latest Version. Before clicking "Upgrade" first check out the Update Settings, as per your wish. Do let me know if I can be able to help you out a bit more.

there is feature of cpanel
service chkservd restart .it checks the service and if it finds anything wrong , it restarts it

If you need to update the cpanel go in whm >> update config >> set to stable and then
click on whm>>upgrade to latest version

or you can run /script/upcp on shell
