This may be a dumb question....but

Is there a way to specify what permissions files in a particular folder are set to when they are edited/uploaded etc?

i know the default is 644 but what if i wanted a particular folder to be set to 755?

    how do i set this?

im not sure if you can do it on a particular folder although you can set the default upload permissions in the ftp config, probably safer and easier just to:

    chmod -R 755 DirectoryName

    Go on, have a guess
I'm not sure if it's possible in linux. It may be possible if the FTP server supports per directory umask settings. Oh for the days of VAX/VMS where doing just this were simple
