I have a server that I would like to use to host a few websites, I have 2 on the server now.

The trouble I have is what is viewable in FTP. Both sites can currently see the "Root"

I would like it so only one site can see the root. Is that the difference between domains and sub-domains? A domain can view the root, but the sub-domain can only view it's associated folders? (by associated folder I mean, public html etc.)

Does a sub-domain have all the same features as a regular domain, only some features are disabled or not seen? Like the root or the main websites folders etc.?

Maybe what I need to do is not have separate domains, but one domain and all the other sites would be sub-domains. Am I correct in this?

    Thank you! :)
