Setting up SSL: how?

Before I start, I did search and I did find the how-to by ITF. However, this how-to is dedicated to setting up a shared SSL certificate. I only want to set one up for 1 site on it's own IP address. I'll probably just use freessl, if only to test it at first, but I would appreciate some advice :p

I did try this before, but I just got an error page when trying to access the https page.
