    Hi,

i've just had my new site setup on my new dedicated server, with cpnael/whm.

I was wondering if i could setup a temp storage area on this server for some of my important files, if ever my laptop was stolen?

How would i go about doing this? Is there or tutorial or something i could follow?

    Thanks

The easiest solution I can think of is create a cPanel account for a dummy domain such as example.com. Then use SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) to securely transfer your files to that account from your laptop. Most FTP clients nowadays support FTP, FTPS and SFTP. SFTP is the most secure as it encrypts both your credentials and your files while in transit.

Assuming the suggestion of a fake account setup it so that no one will be accessing that account so therefore safe, is ok of course.

For another "temp" solution if you wanted to, just make sure that the directory you create for storing your files is outside /public_html/
