Hi,

I want to setup domain forwarding for a domain.
When I go to "Setup/Edit Domein Forwarding" in WHM, it first says "No domain forwarder has been setup - Click to create".
Then, when I click create, I get the message "System has 0 free IPs".

Why is another IP (apart from the 'main' IP from my server where all of my accounts are on) needed?

Thx,
Stef.

Cpanel does domain forwarding by having a script do the redirection. The domains that are forwarded are set to use the dedicated IP in their named files, then when that IP is called, it calls the script.

Here's a clip from the httpd.conf file.
<VirtualHost xxx.xxx.xxx.xx>
BytesLog domlogs/xxx.xxx.xxx.xx-bytes_log
ServerName xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
ServerAdmin [email protected]
DocumentRoot /dev/null
ScriptAliasMatch .* /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/domainredirect.cgi
</VirtualHost>
The xxx.xxx.xxx.xx is the IP dedicated to the forwarding function.

Cannot assign free IP to existing domain

Hi,

previously all my "free" IP addresses were marked "Reserved".
No I 'freed' one IP address, so I can assign it to an existing domain (that is now on the 'main ip').
When I choose the "change site's IP address" option in cPanel, and I select the domain, there are zero IP addresses listed in the "New address" dropdown box. So, I cannot assign the freed IP to the domain.

What is needed so I can see the free IP address in the dropdown box and assign it to the domain?

Thanks,
Stef.
