Hi All,

I've had a good look over the forums and have found lots of information on setting up cPanel to use a smarthost but what I'm trying to do is setup one of my server as a smarthost and wondered if you could assist.

I have a client with an Exchange Server (Lets call this server1) and I would like that to send all its outbound email to my cPanel server (Server2) which will in turn send it out to the world.

All help appreciated and you will be rewarded with a dead squirrel and half a bar of soap for your efforts ;-)

Hello :)

You would have to configure the Exchange server to route the outgoing email through the cPanel server. You may want to check with the support or documentation for the Exchange server to get a better idea of what's exactly required when setting up a smart host on that platform.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm okay with the exchange server side of things, its just a case of entering the name of the Smart Host. What I'm not sure how to do is setup the cpanel server as a smarthost.

You can add the IP address/hostname of the Exchange server to the following options in "WHM Home » Service Configuration » Exim Configuration Manager":

"Trusted SMTP IP addresses"
"Backup MX hosts"

In some cases you may need to add the IP address to the /etc/alwaysrelay file and enable Antirelayd.

Thank you.
