sFTP Setup

Objective: Setup sFTP in cPanel

In FTP Accounts, in cPanel I'm given a drop down list of domains, choosing any enables a user login & folder and port 21

However I want Port 22 and there doesn't seem to be a solution offered by the Hosting company technical support who are un-familiar with cPanel FTP setup.

Host is: Verio.com

I can provide screen shots if someone knows how to do this in cPanel.

Hello,

SFTP runs on a different protocol than FTP. There's no support for SFTP access with the virtual FTP accounts created in cPanel. SFTP access is limited to the account username and corresponds with the SSH access credentials. I encourage you to vote and add feedback to the following feature request if you'd like to see support for virtual SFTP accounts:

Michael, Thank you for your reply, I've been run-around for days with the Host Verio who's agent directed me to your site documentation, but I didn't find what I was looking for and posted here instead (for obvious reasons, I'm a forum fan for all software).

I'm well aware of the different protocol & port, however I'm a bit dull on why with our current site setup on control panel (I know it's not the same) I have many virtual sites all inherited from one root site with sFTP and a couple with FTP; however these are hosted by Verio, but are legacy and will be shut down 1/16/2017!!! Notice was late last month, but there were prior notices which implied migration would be automatic and appeared to be solely a new interface, now migration is not automatic and the interface does not "appear" to support our current configuration.

I'm a database programmer & analyst and have a 10 + hour day of that work, FTP has fallen to me because I'm key in the teams that depend on our FTP being available.

Since Verio does not have the experise, and none of our patient data (well as of yesterday) is not in the new site, is there a technical person who can get into our cPanel and configure a test site that would be used as a template for our other sites and then we'll migrate our many years of data there?
