    When logged in as root in shell it always shows me the current directory in front of the prompt. However, when logged in as a regular user I have to type pwd to find out where I am. Is there some way to get the current directory to show constantly when logged in as a regular user as well?

    From my knowledge, there is no way to check where you are besides pwd as a regular user.

    Add this to your /etc/profiles (for system wide setting)

    Code:
    PS1='\u@\h:\w\$ '
    hth
