Hi,

I will be wanting to run a few Shoutcast Servers from my dedi as well as web hosting and intend to follow the sticky for securing a server. A shoutcast server can have upto 100 connections to it (Listeners) but all with a different IP.

Is this likely to cause APF or any of the security described here to go mad? i.e. think this many connections is some kind of attack?

Also how can I open the port range for APF. Do I need to add something like 8000_8050 for ports 8000-8050 to be accessible?

Thanks

Shouldn't cause any problems. I used to run big sessions on shoutcast, but now just stream to it when I'm bored. You do need to put 8000_8050 to open those ports in the firewall, and make sure you do it in and outbound appropriately (read which ports do what). 8000 = stream outbound to clients, 8001 = stream inbound from source.
