I just got a hosting client who has .shtml server side included
html... but for some reason the apache wouldn't recognize
the code so nothing is being included to the html

any apache setting that i have missed?

Check your httpd.conf file to see if it has these 2 lines.

    AddType text/html .shtml
    AddHandler server-parsed .shtml

If they are there, it would almost have to be an error in the page coding.
