How can i shutdown/stop/start a service like apache or mysql with WHM?

I know i can restart it, but when i kill it in shell, it automagically is been restarted by the service manager? I just sometimes want to shutdown a service like mysql to preform some work.

    Is this possible?

If you want to shut down a service you should stop checkservd because it checks all the services frequently and start the services which seem to be stopped.
