Simple Guestbook attacked by spammers

My Simple Guestbook, in use for about 4 years, has been attacked by a spammer who was posting I'd say 20 spams a week - for months.
I deleted them one by one, using the delete function.
But now there's a new attack, seemingly from a whole group of spammers, with scores of spam per day, and the delete function can't delete them!

Help!
How can I get rid of this stuff? !
And is there a way, when deleting messages, to delete a whole block of them at once?
Thanks for any help, Marar

You may wish to see if there's a Plug-in for that script (or an updated version) that offers spam protection. It's common practice for today's scripts to either have built-in spam protection or offer it through a plug-in (e.g. Akismet for WordPress).

Hi there,

Agreed. Most scripts should include some form of protection/filtering. If not, plugins, and if not again, change books.

Nowadays, mechanisms protect against robot posts, like, for example, simple CAPTCHA's.

If you script hasn't really been updated in a while, you might want to take the hit and switch now to increase security.

Just some tips, my 0.02$.

Warmest regards,
