Site security certificate

Hi,

Please can someone advise me. I am really not up to speed on security certificates, the cost and how they work.
I have a server with dozens of domains on it and would like to avoid seeing the "This sites security certificate is not trusted" and the red slash through the https on login and other similar warnings.
I sort of understand that I can buy a cert for each domain.... but that is impossible for me as it would cost a fortune.... is there a way to cost effectively certify the server at a server level so that all the domains on it are certified?

Hiya!

The concept of an SSL is to create security for that particular website. It is the convention that each site would have their own key.

To save money you can use free SSL certificates from /http://www.startssl.com/ .

You can use shared ssl . Purchase the cert for server hostname, and then the secure url for each site should be like https://hostname/~username. You cannot use just https://domainname for the sites in this , but will need to use https://hostname/~username to access site securely(username will be the cpanel username for that particular site ).
