Hi,

My mysql intensive site have been running happily for years, for the last two years on the current installation, but suddenly began to hit problems about ten days ago.

The response will drop to several minutes delay or time out, or die with 'host reset the connection'

After a while there will be a string of e-mail advising:

Code:
Service Name: cpsrvd
Service Status: failed
Notification: The service "cpsrvd" appears to be down.
Service Check Method: The system failed to connect to this service's TCP/IP port.

Service Name: nameserver
Service Status: failed
Notification: The service "nameserver" appears to be down.
Service Check Method: The system's command to check or to restart this service failed.

Service Name: ftpd
Service Status: failed
Notification: The service "ftpd" appears to be down.
Service Check Method: The system failed to connect to this service's TCP/IP port.
etc etc

I have rebooted the server several times and this will get things going again - but only after ten to twenty minute delay.
Last time I was able to log in and get some status information and could see 80-90% CPU load five minutes after the reboot.
The system then runs again, but hits problems after a few hours

Switching the server off and then back on again started it very much more quickly and it then ran just fine for a couple of days but has now run into trouble again

I'm a novice here and would appreciate some suggestions please

I experienced some slow down issues which turned out to be a hardware fault on the raid.
Probably unrelated, but worth bearing in mind i guess.
