    Hi All,

I'm looking for some help and advice!.. here's the story...

    > Brand new clean CentOS 4.1 install
    > New Cpanel install
    > When I ping say google.com, the delay for resolving is massive and is slowing down operation..

    DNS scheme
    > named is disabled. I want to use a full 3rd party DNS (we use enom) purely for the fantastic Dynamic dns updating and redundency...
    > resolver set to the NOC DNS's and they work when I test then with nslookup.
    domain mydomain.com
    search mydomain.com
    nameserver XX.174.00.11
    nameserver XX.174.101.33
    > WHM name server settings are set to the enom DNS servers..

I've looked through heaps of posts and tried a number of things... Can anyone shed any light on why DNS lookups are so slow?... or if the way I'm giong about it is completely wrong?

    Sam

    Go on, have a guess
The only way you're going to speed up DNS resolution is to enabled named on your own server and use it in /etc/resolv.conf, you don't need to use it as an authoratative host for any domains, just a caching nameserver.
