Slow Download Speed when downloading backups

There is a strange behaviour in my server,

My server specs:
1 gigabit connection VPS
CENTOS 6.5 x86_64 kvm WHM 11.40.1 (build 8)
1 GB RAM.

standart cpanel install.

Problem is when i speed test my server from console its showing around 250 megabit.

My work connection speed is 50 megabit fiber. But when i try to download a backup from my server it can only reach to 1,5 Mb/sec with is around 12 megabit.

I think something is limiting download speed of my server. Anyone have an idea??

I recommend consulting with your VPS provider. It could be an issue with the network or they could have the connection speed limited.

i asked about this and they told me not limiting anything. Is there any option in whm to limit downloads?

There are no settings in cPanel/WHM that would limit download speed rates. Note that it's normal to not reach the maximum speed possible for a download. You should consult with your hosting provider if you feel there is an issue with the connection or speed.

Hi, I am also facing the same issue. I am just migrating my site from one host to another host and for this purpose after generating backup I am trying to download the backup to my local desktop but the issue is with speed. Download speed almost zero, what could be the issue and how to solve?

@assibhai - the download speed between your local desktop and the server isn't something that can be controlled with cPanel. If you're seeing slowness there you'll want to speak with your hosting provider first to see if they can see any issues with the server itself. If not, you may want to speak with your internet provider to have them check things on their end.

The internet speed is very high, i think the issue is with hosting provider.
