I managed to get 45K/s out of it at one point, but as soon as I started up another transfer to have 2 simultaneous downloads, the speed dropped down to ~20K/s.

I would be looking at the server's network connection rather than the cPanel setup... check whether you are saturating your uplink.

If that is the most that you can get out of that box, then your site will always take minimum 25-30 seconds to load without browser caching. If anyone else is loading the page or doing anything that uses bandwidth, that load time is going to increase significantly from 30 seconds.

If you're seeing the same speeds when using (s)FTP, then I see little doubt that the issue is the network speed / saturated port and nothing to do with cPanel / Apache.

I will test it with directed connection to the server through a switch on Monday. Also does two network cards bonding (mode 1) can cause that issue?

Got it fixed - issue was with the firewall (hardware), but still is not 100% full speed. Need to follow up with a hardware vendor on that problem.

Thanks to all of you for all yours tips.
