I have this message every day since about 2 weeks.

Some people say: do not ignore, others say: ignore

I had my NOC do a harddisk test, no strange errors were found.

Still this message eats my nerves a little, cause I am not sure if I should take it serious or not.

    1. Where does it all of a sudden come from?
    2. Is it also possible it will dissappear as sudden as it came?
    3. How can I check whether the IDE controller is causing this?

    it depends ...

If your drives are new and you have always received this error , ignore it .

If your drives are old , perhaps it's time to change them .

in this case , especially if SMART is reporting something like this

Number of Hours in Drive Life: 46856 (life of the drive in hours)

and 46856 is not the real life of your drive , there could be no problem.

I have this problem on 2 new Samsumg drivers (SAMSUNG SP6003H). I receive smart errors from the first day they were
installed on my box . On first day of work SMART reported me over 40000 hours of life ...

Drive life is 3000 hours, which is correct.

It has been running okay for 3 months, then these errors came up.

Hardware tests have been done, no strange results.

Is this something i should be worried about ?

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
You should backup all the data on the hard drives listed below and replace them as soon as possible.

I could be worried too, that's why I post this topic. Nevertheless my datacenter tells me they have half a dozen of servers sending out these messages and running quite well.

I am under the impression that the ATA error count is a total of all errors ever happened.

    Is this correct?

drive life = time the drive is alive

    3000 hours = 125 days = about 4 months = drive age
