edge build (nice looking btw, backend very fast) says
Implemented case 59297: Add official support for a smarthost.

is the section in exim config only area for this or is there something on the users (cpanel) ends also?

I currently use dyndns mail relay as a smarthost for my exchange server here at home (no way to get static ip here) but am thinking of swapping to my dedicated whm server for it (why not, server is there anyways LOL ) so am looking at the new options.

The section is in WHM > Service Configuration > Exim Configuration Manager > Basic Editor > Mail tab:

There is not an option at the cPanel account level for defining a smart host router.

while I have not had chance to look deeply into it I was hoping this would allow me to use this server as the smarthost.
but it seems I misunderstood then ?

Yes, this is not for using the server itself as the incoming smarthost for another server, but defining a smarthost for outgoing messages.

Unfortunately the option does not support authentication yet, would be great if that gets added!
